Fraternity at High Point University Wants to Make a Difference

A Fraternity at High Point University has their minds set on helping those who've served for our country. People have lost sight with everything the Military, Army, Navy, etc. and being able to help and bring awareness to those who've been critically injured in battle can give those men and women the recognition they deserve.

The Kappa Alpha Order Zeta Phi chapter at HPU created a nonprofit organization called, "Operation K.A.R.E.". Their overall goal is to raise $20,000 to donate an action track chair to a veteran that was severely injured.

Operation K.A.R.E. started in 2016 by CEO and Founder, Michael Esposito where he would reach out to other KA chapters to join in on this great initiative. As of Nov. 2021 there are now 50+ chapters involved and collectively have raised over $670,000.

OpKare has faced many problems before they got to where they are at today. They would be working with chapters with only 15-20 brothers and they weren't able to reach the $20,000 goal. To fix that they created five other programs with different goal amounts ranging from $20,000 - $1,200 so that no matter how large of a chapter the school has they are still able to accommodate the veterans needs.

At High Point University their KA chapter has raised $40,000 in a given semester and are having a two chair reveal on November 11th at the new Qubein Arena for veterans day. Being able to accomplish this is incredible.  Alex Hallahan, a student at High Point and COO of OpKare says "Our brothers are honored to support our nation's heroes each year, This year, we are especially excited to present not one, but two track chairs to two deserving individuals so they can once again be more active with their families. Supporting veterans aligns with our fraternity’s values, High Point University’s values and the mission of the Independence Fund and Operation K.A.R.E. It makes it even more special to see these organizations unite to make this possible.” Being able to continue to support our nation's heroes each year is honor for the men that participate in this initiative.
